From their appearance, letters not extending beyond the background, those are golf cart emblems. They cost around $5 each, kinda fit, and are cheesy compared to NOS emblems.
I don't have their part number handy but that is the thing to ask the seller to verify a true motorcycle emblem. Note that this guy doesn't show the p/n or give it in the item description. Common scam on ebay.
Thanks for your reply. Come to think of it, I don't see any type of lettering/numbers on the ones that I have on my tank now. One of them had a small crack in it and I tried to glue it shut and pressed too hard and broke it in half.
My bike is a Dark Grey and I need a emblem that will go with my dark grey tank and side coverrs, light gray frame and a ton of chrome.
I've had 4 specials and 1 midnight and all the tank badges were gold.
If you'd like to try the chromed golf cart emblems try a google search for Yamaha golf cart dealers. I paid ~$5 each + s/h several years ago but I can't seem to find the contact info for where I got mine.
Usually when I spot these on ebay I contact the bidders to warn them. This has resulted in several epic battles and a couple of suspensions for the sellers for fraud. I have no problem with somebody selling these on ebay as long as they don't imply they were originally motorcycle parts like "xsmidnighter" does. Hopefully he's not somebody that hangs out here.
Eventually I'm going to successfully create a mold and try casting a few. I don't have a decent vacuum pump and have gotten bubbles on my previous attempts. There's a gold powder you can add to the surface when casting that would look great, also comes in chrome.
I have the golf cart emblems on my XS11 and they are available at any Yamaha golf car store.
