• Sad day in XSland

I have a co-worker with an 81 MN Special that he was wanting to sell. I was interested but really didn't have the money or space for another bike (just got my 80LG last month).
I told UncleSpot about it and he's wanting the bike. The guy I work with never got ahold of U Spot.
Today I asked what was up with the bike. He told me he has a friend that's opening a cycle wrecking yard and wants the bike. I tried to tell him that Ron would restore the bike but he is more interested in helping his friends business than having the bike on the road.
I'm pissed ! (but then, it's his bike)

Pat, it should not be too hard to out bid a wrecking yard for an XS.
If a yard out bids you he won't be in business for long.

The owner of the bike wasn't placing importance on the money (he was asking $250 for the bike). He was more interested in helping his friend get the business going, a noble thing to do.
The owner came in to releive me at the end of my shift and said he'd thought about what I'd said (and mentioned the look of disgust by me ). He said he decided to call Uncle Spot after all and keep the bike on the road.

Good Thing

Now this is a good thing! Uncle is becoming a fleet owner.

"Uncle is becoming a fleet owner"

....'tryin' to... I hadn't heard anything from Pat about this Midnight Special, and needed the "extra" money for end of year taxes, truck repair, BIG vet bill, and a week-long trade show in Los Angeles....
...'thought the deal fell through...

...the other XSs that I was looking at are at a salvage yard and need a LOT of work and parts... the price started out resonable, but escalated - actually, almost doubled - I don't treat my customers THAT way and 'don't appreciate it myself.

...so, I'm still at the one '80XS SG - and 'lovin' it.
