I have a set of Mikuni carbs with the numbers 18E1 K292 stamped on ther side. I was told these are either gixxer or XS or XJ carbs due to the spacing, (too wide for the 89 Gixxer 1100 I measured them up against. Can anyone ID these carbs?

Don't know about that model number, doesn't ring a bell and my XJ is in storage several miles away, so can't run out and check.
Both the XS and XJ use the same general model Mikuni carbs, (BS 34 II) but there are differences. XJ is set for a cable-operated choke. (Can be converted with parts from the original carbs.) XJ version has drain screws in the bowls, and the inlet (air filter) side of the carbs is larger....54mm vs 52mm used by the XS. Thats one reason why individual XS filters won't fit the XJ, and if you swap carbs there is a small mis-match on the airbox side. The correct individual filters are available in both sizes, so if you swap you might think of going this route.Jerry Fields
