  • TCI, (black box) repair

I have seen posts on the list, from time to time regarding people trying to fix a broken TCI unit.
Tonight on Ebay, I came accross an ad for someone offering a service, to fix your broken unit, instead of buying a new(used) one.
I don't know anything about him, or his service, but I thought it might be of interest to someone in our group.
He claims to be able to fix ANY broken TCI for $25.

Check it out if you are interested. Here is the Ebay #

Not me, no interest, yadda, yadda.......

        TCI

....my shop manual is at my shop, and I keep on forgetting to look up the TCI and find out exactly what the H*** this thing IS and DOES... please fill me in - I bet there are others here that haven't a clue either...
        Thanks, Ron (UncleSpot)

TCI I believe stands for Transistor Controlled Ignition or something similar. In any event, it is the proverbial "Black Box" that is very similar in price to that "unobtainium" stuff.

Not to make anyone feel bad. I bought a used TCI unit for $25 plus $10 shipping from E bay. Swapped it for the old one and it works fine. I now have the original in an airtight container with some packets of silica gel. Got really lucky. For $35 total had to take a chance.
