  • Take a tach apart???

I noticed the other day the tach face on my 80G was askew. Now it hung up and does not work. Ant you guys take one of these apart? I figure a screw came loose and is roaming around loose in there.

I have successfully opened up several XS gauges. There are several methods.

I prefer to pry the bezel assembly crimp away from the housing. It is a slow process and somewhat difficult. I use a flat bladed screw driver to work the crimped edge. Once removed, I use a strong pair of pliers to straighten out the flange for reassembly.

Putting the bezel back on is fairly easy. I use a flat punch to refold the crimp back one the housing. Cutting a hole in a piece of wood the shape of the bezel will help keep the bezel from distorting upon re-assemble
