  • Intake Boot Clamps

Does anyone know of a source for the eight clamps that go against the carbs? Mine are pretty much shot, and the standard Auto Zone hose clamps look terrible.

Any ideas or suggestions would be helpfull.

    Thanks

    Hey there Doo-Daa,

Bike Bandit has them listed in their OEM section, under Intake, parts 5 and 52 on the list of 80G(just what I looked under), and their only $4.80 EACH.....OUCH!! That's $40.00 for all 8.

    Yamaha OEM parts fiche#'s
    Carb2engine: 90460-54085-00

    Filter side: 90460-58124-00

    Same for 78-81

cycle-parts.com web site was down. You can also try contacting Zanottis!!!

I replaced mine on one bike with regular stainless steel worm gear clamps (aka hose clamps). They are easier to adjest with screw drivers.
      Skids (Sid Hansen)

Down to one 1978 E. Stock air box with K&N filter, 81H pipes and carbs, 8500 feet elevation.

        Hey TopCat,

Thanks for the research, I didn't intend for you to do that. But I do like your work.

And that is a bit pricy, but I think I'm a bit locked in.

        Skids,

I've tried the worm clamps used in automotive business, but at least on my 78E, the placement needs to be so exact. This is on the engine side of the carbs. The reason for this is that the synchronizing screws want to bind on the clamp. I think if I was to remove the intake boots, and shave off the ridges that hold the current clamps in place it might ease up a bit, but right now they're so close that they hit if not perfectly placed.

I guess this is just one of those idiot parts that you have to bit the bullet on, cuz there's not an aftermarket demand.

Thanks to you both for your help and input.

            Hey Doo-Daa,

No problem, I like perusing the Online Parts Catalog. John, regrettably the engine side clamps are NOT the same, their part # is: XS650 SF 90460-58015-00 BAND (371-14456-00)

            XS650 SG 90460-53106-00 CLAMP, HOSE

Checked the early 1975 models, same as 1st one listed here!

The parts fiche doesn't give dimensions, darnit!

Check out the various types at McMaster-Carr:
www.mcmaster.com then type page 212 through 215 in the search box...
I got some T-bolt clamps for a replacement on a Rolls Royce exhaust lagging, pretty close to OEM.
