  • New copilot, navigator, ballast or.....

    Hi all,

Just wanted to let ya meet my newest riding partner. At 8 weeks he's at 8 lbs and is already following my other Springers example of XSiveness.

His name is Opus and, like Hoover, seems excited to go for a ride although I'll have to let him use my heated vest for a while. Heres a couple of 60K pics of his introduction to my sidehack.

I'm hoping we can make it to Camp in Nevada next summer and am working on a possible route to commemorate the Lewis and Clark Bicentennial in case anyone would be interested in an "Adventure Ride" on the way there. My idea is to start at Great Falls MT and travel the route they took over to Idaho.

The thing that makes it an adventure are several sections of gravel road over Skalkaho and Lemhi passes. The ULTIMATE gravel road parallels their actual route but is bounded on both sides by hundreds of square miles of wilderness. It's called the Magruder Corridor and the snow drifts are usually passable by late July. This section is definitely a two day trip on an XS but there are lots of GREAT camping sites. Here's a couple of links:

There are other paved routes as alternatives and the planning is still in it's infancy.

    Anyway, Think SNOWMELT!!

    Opus

The new pup looks really cute Rob. Should make a good riding companion for you and Hoover.
I'm afraid there will be far more snow that falls than melts over the next 4 1/2 months. Maybe dreaming up these adventures of yours helps the winters go by in Montana. Sure looks like winter in Bozeman in the pics. Keep on dreaming. Hope to see all three of your in Reno.

Rob, Opus is a cute little bugger! Yeah right, SNOWMELT! There is six inches on the road now and it is continuing as we speak!

        Rob,
Be carefull Rob. If you keep adding to the family you will need to hook up a trailer as well as the sidecar.
Then watch you move on down the highway!!!
