new 79 special seat

Someone was looking for a cover for a 79 special seat. I have a brand new Yamaha seat complete, (never used).If any body needs one,let me know.

That seat will fit, however, the sides will not drop down to the sidecover. I used an 80 LG seat on my SF, and had to trim some metal from the area above the side covers. Other than a different taper at the side cover area, the pan is interchangeable

The 79SF seat will bolt on, but the back of the seat is enclosed, preventing the tail light and grab rail from fitting. The back of the 80 seat is open. I have a 79SF seat on my 80SG, and I had to change to a 79SF tail light. The sides of the seat do not protrude down the sides of the bike as far ar the 80 seat will, and that will leave a gap between the top of the side cover and the seat.

I don't know if it will fit an 80 special or not. It's shaped a little differently in the back. You are the third person that's asked that question. I've got an 81 special,I'll try it on mine and let you know. I want $200 for the seat.

anyone who cuts about an sf seat like that one needs to get a life man i searched and i searched and searched for exactly that seat and came up with a king and queen and the cover and foam like that one your talking about

spent too much on seats now but a month ago i would have bitten your hand off and still feel now i should buy it to save it from any mutilation

but need too many other parts to warrant it i am going to kick myself for this!!!

Hey Gaffer, I DID NOT tell him to cut a 79 seat to fit an 80, cause it don't have to be cut. I said that I, me, Rover, cut an 80 seat to fit a 79, and if you don't like that, tough crap. It was MY seat

like you say its your seat to do what the you want with ,sorry didnt read one of the threads properly about the 80 - 79 fitting
that seat is like a piece of gold thats all you just dont see em!!!!
you get nice ones with a nick here and a nick there ,or a rusty pan or a badge missing,but a new seat wow that is something special!!!!even if i had it id be to frightened to use it !!!

i was just giving an opinion like you gave yours come on fares fare.i cannot believe you havn't got hundreds of responses on this
unless you can get them easily in the us

like i say they are like rocking horse sh*t from what i have seen
(if its brand new and perfect)

do what you want im not out to save all sf seats ,i got an old norton i want to chop but dont tell anyone that!!!

sf seats to me are one of the most bestest thing ever made and ive committed to too much recently and gutted i got to miss it !!

somebody out there is a lucky lucky soul!!

The bad news is,it will not fit(properly).It's shaped differently in the back. The 80-81 seat is slanted in the back to match the conture of the grab bar and the 79 is kicked up in the back.Based on pictures of 80 standards,it looks like it would fit one of them but I'm not positive about that. I like the shape of the 79 seat better than my 81,it looks flatter and more comfortable.I bought it for that reason,but as soon as I got home with it,I thought oh s--- it won't fit.I won't tell you how much I paid for it, you would think I was an smoking something.

Nice to hear from someone in England. I have always had the greatest of admiration for the British. As an American soldier, I visited London once and will never forget how nice I was treated and how beautiful the women were.

thanx dan i love america and want to got there oneday england isnt very british anymore i dont think , getting european really and too much going on really we came from the vikings and romans probably if i had my way id be an american indian!!!!

life should be free and spirited (only get that from a motorcycle these days!!!!)

Well, you are in England and I'm not so you know more than I about your own country,but I think you may be overly critical, one tends to be that way about where he lives. But remember this, the British Army is bad to the bone.But don't take my word for it, ask the Iraqi's. As for Vikings and Romans, you don't hear a whole lot about them any more. Indians, well they were the ones who really got hosed. At one time they had it all and now they have Gallup New Mexico. Wow, what a deal. If Geronimo is up there watching, he must be totally pissed.
