  • Voltage Regulators - What do I have?

I have in my extra parts stock what I thought were two voltage regulators for XS11's . I was told that they did not work properly. I had the Texas Guru (John) check them for me and they all show to have continuity but he quickly noticed there is a difference between what I have and what they should be. These only have two wires going to the small connector. I well as I can tell the numbers on these units are : RD 142 and another number I think is 174-22 Otherwise they look the same as the correct regulator.
Anyone have a clue as to what these are or may work on?

    Thanks Dan

I can't say anything about the part numbers, but as I remember it, there are three wires on one side of the clip and only two wires to its associated clip. I think the thing is grounded to the frame and there was no need for the third wire...

The one that is on my bike and one from John's bike has 5 wires coming off the big connector and three from the small one. These two regulators that I have have five from the big connector but only two from the small connector. They may be for an XS but the wring diagram show 3 wires for the small connector in the two manuals that John and I looked at. I guess the one way to find out is to connect them up and see if they do what they should be doing.
