like one of the other threads said if you get a real fan like me i would pay the earth for one as i feel they are worth it

standard sf with standard exhaust 4-2 i mean ,sissy bar,added oil cooler , braided hoses, fork brace,perfect paint ,badges ,shox with reflectors,frame reflectors,matching good looking tyres,couple of tool/saddle bags ,mirrors ,crash bars ,perfect seat and chrome ,tool kit,in black or red low miles & history,all standard lights etc ,crash bars and highway pegs

that is basically my idea of an xs1100 and what it should be

i like the black and grey standard and the maroon colour standard but the sf is the one that lights my fire

if i was buying one like i described i would pay you your 3,000 dollars and feel ,it was a bargain i would pay up to 3,700 for the one i wanted if it was perfect!!!!!!! thats england tho and english prices!!!

im going to end up spending more than that getting mine sorted and it still wont be exactly how i want it as i want spare tank and panels so i can have it black as well


anyone who has an xs1100 in my book is cool some just use them for hacks ,and dont understand the mystique of it all tho
they are awesome in my book!!

i got a triumph bonneville 1968 as well and i still love the xs they are babes and they got bags of carachter

anyway peoples opinions are different and like the other guy said a true fan will pay what they are worth ,ive seen cheap ones but i cant settle for bits and pieces that arnt perfect and dont look right on a bike a love,if i was buying a hack i wouldnt care so would want it cheap and id settle for any model,but a 79 sf man o man id pay , pay, pay

Hey Gaffer77,

I do and I did. I was itching to get back into motorcycling several years ago after a couple of years off from riding. Originally I was looking for a Hinkley Triumph but didn't find one in my budget. I next set my sights for an XS1100 Special. I found an all stock 79 SF nearby in pristine condition. I'm usually one to look for a bargain but this was exactly the bike I wanted, when I wanted it. I paid $2700 for it and have never regretted it. I've already gotten my money's worth of enjoyment out of it!

I really never intended to gouge anyone it is a Very clean bike and i did a number of the upgrades and adjustments recommenned here. Im selling it due to moving/space issues. I really love the bike but shes gotta go.....

Hmmm....some of the posts above say you can get a clean, good running XS with clean paperwork for $800! Wow! I'm gonna have to get in my truck and visit those cold, snow-bound lands and pick me up a few.

Clean and running good here? $2000 easy (a weekend and a classified ad). $2500 if you want to wait more than one weekend. $3000 is possible with the right bike and the right buyer.

Of course, we can ride all year-round here...and that may push prices up a bit...(don't have to wait for those 17 days in summer when the snow melts...

Give the man a break...his bike is worth what he thinks it's worth!

seems that they don't drop much in value

I bought my 81SH new in 83, paid same price as 81, $3200.00 thru Navy Exchange. Now adjusting for a mere 3% per year inflation rate, then I paid close to $6000.00 in 2004 valued dollars for it! So, looks like if he sells it for $3k "Now" dollars, then it has only depreciated about 50%....pretty good!! Sounds like it's a very nice machine, and considering how much $ it takes to get one road worthy, it will probably be a good bargain for someone!!
