This would be such a helpful tool in the preservation of these bikes. I would pay some money to have something like this available. Carbs is the number one source. But cover things that are most important in making a bike roadworthy again because it seems most of us are coming across these bikes in need of repair. you know brakes wheel bearings clutch adjustment fluids carb synch. etc....

Dude, I just bought an '80 MS - in Cupertino. I think you and I must live in a parallel universe reserved for Patrick's or something!

Mine needs the carbs balanced. As for video's - I've spoken w/UncleSpot about this as well. Would love to help out, but am pretty busy with my day job as an Editor. That said, my '79 Special was recenlty front ended and I have yet to swap out all the new(ish) parts to replace the bent fron forks and such. Would make a great resto project to viddy, but again, time...

I'm in Oakland and would be happy to lend my video camera, editing, motorcycles or mechanical skills to such an endeavor. Maybe we should find an independantly wealthy investor who loves XS's to fund our effort so we can all quit our day jobs and focus on what we love...

        Okay, back to work...

          xs video / cd

          Great Idea everyone,
Just include some trans (2nd gear) and some electrical component education and diagnosing topics.
I'd be willing to spend up to 50.00 for such a video manual.
Thanks for all the help I received from everyone, and ride to enjoy.

            DVD PLEASE!!!

Hi, I just stumbled on this thread since I have to replace the fork seals, and I haven't got much of an idea of how to do it, even with the Clymer, Haynes and several other manuals... has the DVD been made?

              Funny you should ask,

But regrettably it is JUST NOW IN PRODUCTION!! I've gotten a 79SF basket case that I'm essentially going to be rebuilding, and so will be using it for ALL of the topics, from Carbs, brakes, forks, electronics, etc!! I saw your post about doing your seals. You said you read the tech tips!? Are you finding the tech tips by clicking on the link in the LEFT HAND COLUMN, or are you going to the main FORUM page and then scrolling down to the tech tips section?? I'll post to your other message a reply!

hi, I went to the other place, where there is a fork tool illustrated... what I really need is a step by step procedure written for a 4th grader in words of no more than 2 syllables... that's why I was so excited seeing the DVD being produced, I need everything that will be on it, and so I can watch it in slow motion! Thanks!

                    Hey TC,

Did we talk to Yamaha to get their nod on using the images and selling the results via our group. Something about logo protection and name protection on recorded materials. I don't know all of the legal issues but our network, Unsion Television network, has to abide by these things all the time.

I think it would be good and even better if it included video of the usual trany undercut repair along with some other more intense mods.

                                All the best intentions!

                                Well,
Last year, at least I think it was last year, might have been the year before...didn't check what year this thread was started, I started on this project when I worked on the BasketCase's Carbs. Then UncleSpot chimed in with wanting to do some of it from his location in Ca., having a studio or such, but then that seemed to fall thru.

I will be getting myself back into Basket Case for my nephew so I will try to do some more on this, but as you can tell from the discussion in this thread it's a monumental project that "MIGHT" expand across a couple of DVD's unless I learn how to use my Dual Layer DVD burner and get a program that can burn them, and the blanks....they are a bit more $ than regular single layer ones! Not to mention all the video taping while wrenching, editting, providing voice over commentary, hi res still shots of critical views, etc.!!

Sorry I didn't follow thru on this like I had wanted to when I first brought it up, but it seemed like others were going to jump in, etc., and then life happens!
