...what was the "tip"? that you *could* use this type of muffler (?)
What kind is it?
...how is it secured? ...just at the bottom?

...how's it sound??

well i guess the 'tip' was just seeing his up close, and telling me how he did it. pretty simple, actually.

muffler is off of an 01 yamaha R1. got it brand new off ebay for $45.

yeah it is secured only at the bottom. it seems very secure. i can move that at a later time if i decide to. it just fit so nicely right there.

how does it sound? sounds GREAT in my opinion. great=quiet. much quieter than stock.


and yeah i was surprised to see the stock fuse box still intact on this bike.

costs:

NEW muffler - $45 + 15 shipping (muffler is ~$700 from dealer)

4-1 exhaust - FREE (took some welding to get it usable. one of the header pipes was cut in half)

then just a few dollars for misc items like paint.

Just for the kicks... a lafranconi off a ducati monster 900.
Got a pair.
On the pic its just propped up with the original bolt. But could be installed with some time and a mallot.

Anyway, my winter projects... make the can exhaust holes a bit larger, to make it sound a bit deeper, modify the muffler inside to fit, take out some stuffing... and test.
Forks, hopefully shocks, recalibrate the speedo, clean, change all the fluids, replace clutch springs, maybe plates too, some new brake lines.... etc.
Since my finances are a bit short and some other priorities, a second bike will have to wait.
