  • Oil Cooler Engine Mount on ebay

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=34284

This apears to be a factory oil cooler engine mount plate that goes between the filter housing and the engine. Looks just like the factory plate on my '79. You just don't see these plates for sale very often. You can always pickup an aftermarket oil cooler and hose lit from most auto parts houses to work with this.

Sombody on this forum should jump on this..

It's an aftermarket plate. Notice the fittings. they are pipe thread on one end, and flare on the other. The OEM plate has fittings that attach with screws, and can only be positioned two ways. The one on E bay should work fine, as you can angle the fittings in the best possible position, to avoid the pipes with the hoses.

      Hi John,

I'll bet that Yamaha used Lockhart Cooler kits in the early production years, then switched over to their own OEM design on the '80 on models.

Both the new '79 factory touring XS1100F' I owned back in 1980' and my current '79 touring model that I bought from the original owner, have this same Lockhart slip-on hose design that use hose clamps to secure the hoses to the cooler and the engine mount plate.

I do remember seeing the screw-on oil hose fittings that you mentioned used on the later model XS850 tripples. These bikes all had coolers that were a lot different from mine. They also did not say Lackhart on them.

Like you, I prefer the Lockhart design for more versatility. With a little teflon tape on the fittings, you can aim them any direction for a better hose fit.
