  • Petcock Screens

I need to remove the petcock screens on my 1980 XS1100G, but they seem to be pressed on. Has anyone successfully removed and reinstalled these. Thank you for any input you might have on this subject.

They do come out. Just gently rock them back and forth while pulling lightly on them.

Tried rocking them and pulling gently and then more aggressively, but they don't seem to want to come off over that slightly flared metal nub. If the plastic breaks, are replacements available?

If they do not want to move why not leave them. Don't gorilla them until they break. Wash throughly with lacquer thinners and a tooth brush. I took mine off about three years ago and now they fall off all the time! I have tried gluing with weatherstrip adhesive etc. but the gas dissolves the adhesive.
