  • Brake line

    Hello all,

It's been a long time since I've posted. Pretty sure it was under 'sclonghairbadboy'. Anyway, I have a question.

    1) does anyone have two spare front brake lines they would be willing to part with? My front brake lines have rotted to the point of rupture. I've looked into SS braided but to have them made is well over $100 and that's out of budget for me.

    Front Brake Hoses

Send me an Email at; danielsken@shaw.ca. Include your postal address and your E-mail address. If you are will to go for postage I will send you a set. I have converted over to SS and still have the ones I removed.
Only better offer you may get is someone local to you has a set and can simply drop off/pick up.

      Brake Hoses

Just realized, my hoses are off a 78 Standard. If your bike is a Standard OK but if it is a Special my hoses will likely be too short.
      What do you have?

I changed over to S/S Lines, fronts & rear. Got them from Randy here on the Forum. Well UNDER $100 ! Worth every penny, the scoot now acualy stop. Remember any of the rubber ones you get will 20 + yrs old. Rubber breaks down w/ time & air. Used ones were taken off for a reason. Check with Randy, he does a great job.

Hey, Ken, thanks for the plug.

But I don't recall ever selling a set for well under $100. If I did I was drunk, an ever-recurring possibility! They cost me $120 to fabricate.

Anyway, SCVic, if you need a set, they're $135 + $7 to ship to SC. Let me know the exact model and you'll get a perfect fit.

Hey, Randy, I just got my 1980G running again today after a few years in the garage (something north of 10!). After some fresh oil, a new battery and rebuilding the carbs (thanks to information I got from the tech tips section) it fired right up. After all the mouse nest paper blew out of the right exhaust it settled down to the nice purr I remember, I was amazed....... Anyway, now that I have it running again I have to start on the body, good cleanup, new tires etc. so I am looking for some new brake lines, front and rear. I saw this thread and bingo there you were. The old lines look ok but I would rather be safe than sorry. I remember how quick the 11 was so I sure want to be able to stop when I want to......Let me know how you want to do the $$ part. My Bike is a 1980 model XS1100G.

Thanks a million. I can't wait to get my bike back on the road......

Sorry, I was thinking that they were less. Myy memory is a bit fouled right now. Still, your brake lines are a good deal at the price. Thanks for making the set for me.
