Check the book or http://parts.yamaha-motor.com/ for the correct spacers and placement. Also check the notorious spooge hole in the rear master cylinder. Just do a search on this site for spooge, and you'll find plenty of threads. There's always a way, figure it out.

After riding, and the rotor heats up, try cracking the bleeder screw open. If fluid under pressure comes out, then check the adjustment of the rear master cylider push rod. It may need to be shortened to allow the fluid to return to the master cylinder.

Make sure you get the problem corrected right away - I first noticed mine in the morning on day and it had completely siezed on the way home that night, about 1/4 mile from my house. The darn thing was glowing orange! I had to replace the disc because my stupid little spooge-hole had gotten clogged.1979 XS11F Standard - Maya - 1196cc (out of order)

After sitting for ten years, even though you put fresh fluid in, the old stuff might have turned to gunk and gelled on the inside of your caliper. Might be time to take it apart and clean it out. A good test to see if it's the caliper or the master cylinder: Next time the brakes seize up... whack the caliper several times with a rubber mallet or a 2x4. If the brake releases and the wheel spins freely, then it's the caliper. The inner rubber seal in the caliper is what helps it to retract. If the piston or seal is coated with gunk, it'll hang up. You may want to consider taking apart and inspecting the master, too. Though not causing probs, you may want to look at your front system, as well."Damn it Jim, I'm a doctor, not a mechanic!'
