    Vetter Fairing Interchangeability

I've been giving some serious consideration to aquiring a fairing for my bike. Does anybody know how compatible the different versions of the Windjammer are? From perusing the Craig Vetter website it seems that the fairings themselves are pretty interchangeable and that the only motorcycle specific items are the mounting brackets. I have seen a couple of brackets for xs 750s and 850s, as well as for a variety of other motorcycles on ebay and was wondering if any of you, in your infinite xs11 wisdom, know if these are adaptable to a xs11. Has anybody been successful at redrilling other bike's brackets to mount on an xs11 or should I hold out for a set of hardware specifically for an my bike? Thank you all in advance for any suggestions that you may have.

    Thanks,

    Dan

The Vetter fairings are all the same other than cosmetics, only the mounting hardware determines what bike it fits. If you shop ebay or whatever for a mount, make sure that you get a Vetter mount. Other brands that look nearly identical at first glance, will probably not fit a Vetter. I know that a Pacifico mount definitely doesn't fit a Vetter unless you are handy with a welder and have a weekend to kill.

Until they went out of business after a fire in their shops, the Pacifico people made an adapter kit so Vetter fairings would fit the Pacifico mount. Adapter kit was around $20.00.

My onderstanding was that the kit was a set of 2 plates, each plate drilled to fit the Pacifico mount, then a 2nd set of holes in each plate for the Vetter mount. I suspect that with some plate sotck and some time one could fashion adapter plates. The Pacifico-mount screws were countersunk in the adapter plates to keep them from interfering with the Vetter mounting.

Try this search link for ebay. Then save it to your favorites. I see both Yamaha and Vetter fairings come up often on this link. You just have to be patiant.

I had my Yamaha factory fairing off over the weekend and found that the mount brackets could be fabricated fairly easily with a good welder, some tubing, and some angle iron if you can find a fairing but not the brackets.

          Try this one

This is the vetter search on ebay. I think I have one for a 78E it's bent but is repairable. It would fit most xs1100's. I'll check and let you know

There's always a way, figure it out.
