Will these saddle bags work??

The 80 1100G that I have doesn't have saddlebags. Does anyone know if these might work instead?

Hey there Don,

The pictures were not very good, especially in showing the mounting points! You could email the seller and request distances between the top two holes in the bracket, and also from the top front hole down to the bottom hole, they usually mount to the shock post, either the fender bolt hole or similar along the rear of the frame, and also to the footpeg supports.

The XS750/850 series are similar to the XS11, so I would think if it wasn't a perfect bolt on, that you could make it fit with fairly minor adjustments!?

Thanks for the info TC, I'm picking up the bike on Sat and know the bags were damaged. The current owner stated that he still had the stock guard rails for the bags.

I may go with soft luggage but was concerned about the reliability of soft luggage.

I lean towards the samsonite side myself. I can get three bags of groceries on the left and a case of beer on the right [for balance,you know] and if you should ever need it -I hope not !- they had a lot to do with [as did the engine cage] my being able to pick the bike up and drive away after a pretty good wipeout earlier this summer. I was easily able to tweak the locks a bit to make the luggage a little more difficult to break into. Downside;goodbye xssive aerodynamics. You can really feel the air brakes on a full dresser ,especially if you've had the experience of opening up a nekkid XS in top form. Not that they're all that streamlined either.....

I have a 1979F model standard with factory bags and except for the paint color, and these look to be identical to my set. They should fit fine on a 1980G model standard. I did notice that the left black mounting plate has the front end broken off. This is a weak point on these aluminum plates. Mine broke on the right plate at the same place and had to be heliarc-welded by an expert at a local shop. Only cost about $20 though.

I appreciate the info Joe. The PO gave me the chrome that goes around the bags, now all I need is the bags!!
