    80 Black Box

Hi xswilly. I believe the change didn't come till '81, when they dropped the vacuum advance unit (your's has one doesn't it?) and went to all electronic ignition including advance. Christopher.

      Hey there XSWilly,

Well, Chris was close, in 81 is when they changed it, but it was because they dropped the Centrifugal advance, still had the vacuum advance till 82 with the XJ, so the three letter/number prefix should be 2H7-, till 81, then 4RO-, then 82 is 10M-.

        OK
so a black box should fit a 78-79-80
        correct

Yeah XSWilly, that is correct. I have been having that same problem down here with btdtdan's 81SH. It had a 2H7 box on it. It runs and idles ok, but will not accerate past 5k he says. I haven't heard it run, it's at a shop, but I did look at it, and found that it had the wrong box. So the 2H7 box will fit from 78-80. The 81 needs the 4R0 box.
Just got back from Waterville yesterday. It was Beautiful up there. I picked the perfect week to go up on vacation. Southern Maine was nice too, even along the turnpike.

yes you did have a great week
it seemed to do alot of color changing this week
saturday we had about 60 percent still green
then monday it reversed and now it is hard to find a green leaf

kinda cool in the mornings for you huh

I didn't think it was too bad, but my Texan wife and kids, well...
I sure did enjoy it though. Another thing that we enjoy is star gazing at night (like we could in the daytime). Here in the DFW area, you can only see the most predominant stars, as compared to up there you can see the Milky Way.
