Partsnmore Master Cylinder

It seems that it has been nearly a year now since people posted that they were upgrading to a new front master cylinder from partsnmore. It sounded as though most people were initially pretty happy with this product. I was just curious how the passage of time has affected their opinion of it. Are they still working well? Any problems that people contemplating buying one ought to know about?

I'm still very happy with mine, It looks better than OEM and I have better braking power than before. Than again, I do have the SS brake lines too. That made a night and day difference. I would give it a thumbs up!

When I bought mine I got 2 of them, one for wife's XS750. Never installed hers and the bike is sold. I can pass it along to you for my cost of $70 + shipping if you're interested.

partsnmore brake lever

Having short stubby fingers does it have a adjustable lever like most of the modern bikes do?? if not what is the distance from where the index finger would rest to the grip??

no adjustment.
3" to front of my grip, 4 1/4" to rear of grip. I have the original grips on my bike.

Hey Pat, and D.P.,

If you look at the picture of the MC, you can see a set screw and lock nut on the end of the lever where it pushes in the piston, that is where you can adjust it, so that the lever applies pressure with very little pull, or only until you pull it a lot more closer to the hand grips!?

The actual lever doesn't adjust in position when not applying the brakes, but you can grasp the lever and still hold onto the hand grips with shorter fingers IF you set the lever to NOT apply piston pressure until you pull the lever closer.

I was looking at that adjustment and got to thinking...
If you put a spacer of some kind (glue a washer or two?) between the lever and perch in the gap to allow the lever to sit closer to the grip at rest, that might ease the reach.

Hey Pat,

Great idea, but just build it up with JB Weld or such, but yeah, it should work nicely, and should position the lever much closer to the bar/grip!
