Everybody that rides a motorcycle or bicycle uses counter steer, some of them just don't know it. If you are in to math, and boring reading, this link (http://socrates.berkeley.edu/~fajans...eerBikeAJP.PDF) will tell you just why. If you want some easier to understand explanations do a advanced search on Yahoo for all of these words (cycle counter steer).#1 ’79 XS11 Special

Most of us use counter steer and don't even know it. Have you ever wondered why it seems that you can just think the bike into a turn? Or that it seems like the bike knows when to turn and does it by it self? It doesn't take much effort to do it.

Counter steering is just a fancy word for swerving. Every directional change on a motorbike involves 'countersteering'. The thing is to avoid getting into the position of having to swerve. All the savvy riders monitor the road and traffic waaay ahead - Any dramas ahead, back off ,brake , slow down. If a cage pulls in front and you can't simply brake to avoid it, then the rider probably wasn't fully switched on and was too close. Swerving, you're liable to run off the road(lucky) or end up under the front wheels of that fast approaching Mack truck in the opposite lane. Have you seen the cost of funeral expenses nowadays?
