air filter replacement-please help a xs11 newbie :-)
air filter replacement-please help a xs11 newbie :-)
can someone tell me how to remove the air filter from an xs1100sg? I've assumed that the chrome cover comes off the airbox but didnt want to attempt removal in case this isnt correct!
I'm assuming that an SG is the same as my F. Underneath the airbox there are, I believe, 4 wingnuts. Unscrew these, and the lower section drops out from below. BRB (Yup.... just went out in the garage to check: four wingnuts)

The wingnuts are actually screws with winged heads on them. The screws originally had some hairpin clips in them to prevent them from falling out when loosened. I had to remove two of the clips because they were catching/tearing the Uni foam filter I'm using. No big deal. I have found it easier to remove the lower section of the airbox from the left side of the bike. DO NOT attempt to remove the chrome from the airbox. It won't come off from the outside anyway.
