I have a 1980 XS1100LG (Midnight Special), and would like to find a nice tank. I really don't care about the color, but the inside needs to be clean, and the outside should be rather straight. Any suggestions for finding one? I really hate to see this bike just sitting in the garage, and not being ridden. BTW, thanks to all who replied to my diagnostic nightmare thread. Your suggestions were the saving grace for my sanity. I got this machine running in new condition, and now need to fix the "rusty tank syndrome". The tank has been "sealed" once already, and is in rather poor condition inside. Also, thanks to the people at XS11.com for the server space for these threads. Keep up the good work, guys (and gals).

Try to find my rusty gas tank thread... should be from sometime in spring 2004. The fix still works.
I used polyester, no fibers, but first rinced out with some phosphoric acid anti-rust thingie and de-greased with dunnowhat.
Polyester fell off only in one place... I bumped it at the top hole when I was pumping gas... no biggie and totally my bad.
Other than that.... check ebay.
Or make your own tank... But I didn't do that yet.

XS1100 Fuel Tank
In another posting about fuel tanks for sale I had said I would keep an eye on eBay for Sale Items. There is a Special tank and front and rear fenders all painted parrakeet blue and the sale ends Oct 1,2004 at just after 7:00PDT.
