  • Golf Cart - XJ1100J Project

Hey there everyone, chevy454 knows about my project dont know who else does but anyways heres some pictures that iv'e taken so far.... Heres some background info as to how this project started....
The Electrics in my EZGO golf cart had died over the summer as the, so I had stripped the electrics clean out of the golf cart leaving an empty shell basically. This summer I found out that my cousins cousin had a Yamaha Motorcycle engine that he wanted to get rid of. So I called him up and asked him how much he wanted for it and what type of bike it had come out of, I thought it bee like a 400 or a 650, but he said casually it had come out of a 1982 XJ110J Maxim 1.1Liter 4 Cyl bike. I was shocked but intrigued so I asked him how much he wanted for it and this may sound like I stole it but he said… FREE! Absolutely free, no charge whatsoever. So I went over picked up the motor and he had told me that he had everything, I got everything besides the ignition, and mufflers, I got the header pipes, That’s how I got this wonderful motor and met some really nice people in the process on this site.. So Heres the pictures.. Enjoy!

OH and maybe youll notice a pattern!

        great minds think alike

i'm planning on doing almost the same thing this winter. a buddy has a 500 cc honda engine that i plan on using, which should move a four seat cart right along. keep up the work and i might be getting ahold of you for insights in the near future.

I have a cart that I need to get rid of... It sits 4
but rear seat folds down to add length to the flat
bed cargo area. If anyone wants it... come and get it.
          I'm near Knoxville, TN.

You guys need to take a look at this site then.
            http://www.ringmini.de/English_Versi...gsxr_kart.html

GSXR engine in a gokart. There is a video clip of it on the track. It is a big download ~10MB, but worth it if you have broadband.

When you say you got everything but the ignition, do you mean coils or TCI box? The coils can be worked around, but the TCI box is a little more difficult. There's a place in New Zealand that makes a replacement TCI box...it has a modified timing curve that's supposed to give you more power in the lower rpm range. Runs about $140 US. Search for it on Ebay if that's what you're missing. Otherwise TCI boxes are generally pretty hard to find.

I wish you the best of luck! Keep us posted.

Well, I'm not sure it can really be called a golf cart...
I can send a picture and you can decide...
In any case, it's free. I've had to pull it from
the shed to have a place to store more XS's
