Throttle Probs

Now that my XJ is finally running well, I have issues with the throttle.

When I roll onto the throttle it goes from nothing to about 20% in no time with nothing in between. (100% being full throttle) There is no low throttle level.

Any ideas what could cause this? It makes it extremely difficult to navigate at low speeds without relying on the clutch.

Is there some slop in the throttle cable?

Yes...but more than I can take out with the built in adjuster. Pardon my ignorance, but why would the slop in the cable have that effect?

If it does have slop and you have already adjusted the cable as much as you can, you might want to make sure that the metal piece that attaches to the grip area is not broken. I am talking about an xs11, not an xj11.

I guess I did answer the question, but no responce from the throttle until you twist it a significant amount, seems like a cable thing to me.
