    Side cover mounting

I'm having a hard time finding a left side cover that mounts with the round holes and posts. Seems some 1100 xs G's mount with rectangular slots and some don't. Was wondering if any of the specials, same year or not, that mount with the round holes will fit? Might just go without the emblems. Or, has anyone modified a side cover to make it fit?

Grifff, I am amazed that you have not found that left cover yet.
The guys in the XJ site refer to these side covers as "unobtainium".
I have a set of emblems for the Standard.
If you DO get to the point where you drill-out a slotted cover, we can at least make the outside look right.
        Let me know.

'80s come in all configurations where the side cover are concerned. I have seen them both be slotted, one slotted and the other round, and both sides round.

Well thxs guys. It looks like they mix-matched the side covers. I do need the left side pretty bad right now. I'm in the process of painting. Doing an XSIVE Green Bay Packers bike, hehe. Got your tach and speedometer cases primered Newmaac.

              .....

If anyone has a left side cover from a special that mounts with the holes, i would be willing to buy it.

                Side Covers

grifff, check the classified parts section. I'm sure I saw a set of side covers there recently.
