  • fuse holder

The fuse holder on my 1980 xs11g appears to have been rewired like a 1979 model. the 1st fuse is tagged tail light but it gets so hot the solder melts out of it taking the headlight turn indicators (before thay quit completely)and the speedo and tach lights. On the 1979 and earlier bikes this fuse was tagged as the main fuse and was 30 amps on the 1980 modle the main fuse is under the left side cover. I'm not very good at reading scematics(sp?) can anyone tell me what circuits should be on the diferent fuses?? Thanks

    Hey there RailRoad,

Okay, the furthest left set of wires is supposed to be ONLY the Blue wires, with a 10A fuse, its' the Running lights!

The second going Left to right is the Headlight (10A), it should be a Solid Yellow/fuse/Red-yellow wire combo.

The third is Turn Signals, (20A), and should be Solid Yellow/Fuse/Solid Yellow combo.

Last is Ignition, (10A), Solid Yellow/fuse/Red-White wire combo.

You will probably want to pull the wires out and expose the black cover so you can find and figure out the 3 yellows that are supposed to be tapped and run together on one side of the fuse links.....it's the main power supply wire(s) from the Main fuse circuit thru the Ignition Switch! So....it should be 1 large yellow wire with essentially 2 other taps coming off of it so that there are 3 wires that go to one side of the other 3 fused circuits and to the other side of the fuse links and the individual wires, the Red-yellow and Red-white and the other solid Yellow. The Blues are only to themselves across the FUSE!

I hope this makes sense and helps!?
