  • Exhaust Header Stud Dimensions

I am currently awaiting a stock exhaust system for my 79SF. I'm not sure if you all have seen what the head bolts look like on my bike now, but if you haven't, the picture is included down below.

As you can see the bolts and nuts are pretty much corroded together. I'd like to have replacement bolts available when I switch the systems, but don't have the slightest as to if I could find these things at a hardware store, have to go to a dealer or would be ess out of luck should one break.
My dinosaur (as the guys at the Cycle Center have taken to calling it) is my main form of transportation. So, I'm a bit hesitant to even ettempt to loosen anything until I have to.

If anyone knows the size of these bolts and or where I should start poking around for them, I implore you, post away.

I am a rhinoceros and my skin is three feet thick.

Buick, get the studs from any halfway decent muffler/exhaust dealer. Size 8mm x 40mm. Normally you unscrew them by locking 2 nuts on the thread. Chances are your studs will unscrew with those seized nuts attached. If you manage to unscrew some of those nuts, the studs will probably be O.K. anyway. One way to remove real stubborn studs is to crank a WHOLE VICE on to them, then turn the vice!

P.S. Use proper cylindrical stud nuts with 6mm allen heads and a long handled 6mm allen key to make everything easier.
