    air fltr for 82 XJ1100 K & N???

What are people using now-a-days for the air filter for an 82 XJ1100? I've seen threads about the K & N? Is this an aftermarket filter? Where is it available? How Much?

I've also seen people recommending against the pod filters. What are the plusses and minuses......

    Hey Tom
Pod filters: +make removing carbs easier
    -carbs should be rejetted
    -rain/water vulnerable
    -more $
    K&N replacement:
    +reusable
    +no rejetting needed
-make xs11 airbox hard to close and seal
Sorry I don't have any part #'s for you but www.partsnmore.net has both kinds I think.

There is no K&N replacement for the XJ. Your 2 choices are facory OEM or go to individual filters. Note: if you go individuals, the XJ takes a 54mm, not the 52mm of the XS carbs.......

        Any opionions

Has anyone got opinions on the pod filter, based on experience? I read a real long thread posted by someone a while back that kept on changing the jets to get the proper set-up using the pods. Did this ever get worked out to anyones knowledge?

          Yes, Tom,

It got worked out, and if you do a search with the word "plumbing" you'll find that monster thread and can see the end results!
