Gold headers

On my 80 SG, my headers are getting more golden colored all the time.
I have seem posts referring to chrome turning blue, and fuel mixture/temperature.
Why is the chrome brownish gold? Is it a mixture thing, or just cheap aftermarket chome?
Any way to get the color back?

My 79 has original factory pipes, they turn gold right before turning blue. I was told the heat causes the problem, and even if you rechrome, it would come back, that it is the "nickle" that causes the problem. Later 'Dog

Sounds like you got "Midnight Special" headers! !
What do your plugs look like? As Scalded said, seems like you may be running a bit lean?
