  • Fork Seal replacement: Special Model

Okay, I have my bike in the living room.
The front end held up by the car jack.
Right fork is off and I can't get the air cap bolt out.
No, I don't have a vice. But does anyone have any,
    ADvise?

I fear I may have bit off more than I can chew.
I am a rhinoceros and my skin is three feet thick.

Did you drain the pressure from the forks? After you make sure the air pressure is drained, Go to the store and buy some beer, Stop at friends house and offer a few beers for some help. You and friend go back to your place, Have friend hold fork tube VERY TIGHTLY, and give her hell. If this doesn't work then mabee a small oil filter strap wrench with some thick rubber wraped around the fork tube, Then give her hell agian. If this doesn't work, Say a few profane word to your bike ( and forks ) and drink a few more beers. Go to pawn shop and buy a cheap vise. This WILL work. Just want to take care as to not marr up the tube ( wrap with thick rubber ). The vise and rubber works for me every time. Remember, when you go to initially ( "break the seal" ) you may want to wrap on the wrench doing the work with a hammer as to " shock it " loose.

Leave the fork tube installed. The triple trees will hold it for you. Once you break the nut, then remove the tube from the triple trees.
