I posted here a while back to say that I had changed pads all the way around on my 79 std. Well guess what? The new pads squeeled like a stuffed pig! Very embarising to ride that way, so I went out and ordered another set of pads of higher quality thinking that it was the pads that were making all of the noise.
When these arrived, I installed them and the new pads seem to make just as much noise as the first set. CRAP! What now?
I went to Autozone and reviewed their brake sprays and bought some CRC Brake Caliper Greese. I then took the new pads off, then greesed up both sides of the metal clips that go in between the pads and the caliper. I also greesed up the backside of the pads where they make contact with the piston and the caliper backside. I then installed these pads making sure to not get any greese on the friction surfaces of the pads and rotors.
Went for a test ride and shazam! No noise what so ever. It was not the pads afterall that made all the squeeling.
