  • Highway pegs

    Hey all,

Got an XJ with Mac 2 to 1's on it. Had the original headers etc with a nice set of highway pegs. When I changed to the Macs it seems that my pegs and frame no longer fit. So, I am looking for highway pegs that will work with the new exhaust configuration and am interested in getting rid of the other system, unless there is a way to make it work. Haven't figured one out yet but am open to suggestions.

    Hey there DEO/Dave,

I just reviewed some pictures of your bike I had, and didn't remember seeing the cruise pegs. Like you said, they won't fit/bolt onto the frame with the new headers there.

Just how did they bolt on before? Simple U clamps to the frame, or flat brackets that bolted onto the engine mounts!?

If you are wanting to keep the pegs, then you might find some bracket pieces that would work as extensions to get past/beyond the header pipes to bolt the pegs to. OR you can get some frame mounting pegs that bolt/clamp onto the frame, sold in JCW and DK and elsewhere!? Glad you're still riding after your mishap a while back!

      TC,

Yeah, I am still riding and having a great time.

The pegs are on a rectangular bar that was attached to the motor mounts on the bottom and with u-bolts on top. Simple setup but not simple to put back on. I am thinking that if I can get some flat stainless or chrome I can bend and drill it to go around the headers but haven't found any yet.

We ought to get a few of the VA guys out for a ride sometime.

        Hey Deo/Dave,

JCW sells chrome muffler brackets of various lengths with holes already in the ends, shouldn't be too hard to find/measure what length you would need and then order them!? Get a copy of their Bike catalog and check it out. DK might have them also, but haven't checked.

Yeah, we need to do that, I'm going to be out of commission for a while having neck surgery, but I'll be back!!!

Deo, if you do decide to get rid of your old setup, let me know. I'd like to get highway pegs for my XJ.

            John,

If I can come up with another way to mount highway pegs I will be getting rid of the other. I am looking around for ideas and ways to mount them.
