I tried posting pic with this earlier and it didn't work , so here it goes again..... I got this bike from my brother-in-law in exchange for chopping his bike. Since i've owned about every make out there i figured it was time to put some creativity into this one......

I will add post-op pics when the patient is out of surgery.

What'd you do with the stock exhaust? I'd be interested in it...

I Think it looks great. Are those the same shocks with cut springs or did you go to a smaller set?

those are the stock springs with about three inches cut off the right and three and a half off the left. i know, i know i could have bought shorter shocks but i'm making do with what i have since the funding is going to headlight, grips, air filters , foam and sheet metal.

You gotta do what you gotta do when there low funds...Trust me I know. Worst scenerio, if it rides hard you could always put new shocks next year. I would like to what you did with the frame cutting and back fender too. I have to learn how to weld first.

for the seat area i cut out the bars and rewelded them back in at more of an angle and for the rear fender i cut off alot of the lower splash shield and rotated it forward, filled the tail light holes then made new mounts for it. piece of cake.

You have a great start. Are you going to rake the fork? There is a picture of a bike that was built in Spain on the XJ web site that is a 650 that was lowered and raked. It does not look like a chopper but more like a modern cruiser.

                        Hey there KACustom,

I did a search and found a few pictures from another Xsive in the Richmond, Va. area that chopped his with a springer front end, hence his nick "Springer". See the following thread for the pix. They are kinda large KB size, hope you have DSL or Cable, or they will take a while to D/L in your browser to view!?

that bike looks pretty good, although it still sits a little hight in the rear for my taste(to each his own). i had thought about raking the front and changing forks until i saw how the neck is welded (yikes) , the good thing about leaving the front stock is that i don't have to worry about the forks sitting all cock-eyed, plus it should keep it handling quick. if he thinks his seat is bad, wait till you see mine
