Anyone have the tourque sequence for the valve cover on the 82 XJ1100? I can't find a manual but I need to remove the valve cover to fix a leak. If someone could scan it, that would be great!

None of my 3 manuals gives a torquing sequence for the valve cover. All they specify is to torque the fasteners to 7.2 ft-lbs.Ken Talbot -

The trick, I think, is to compress the gasket as evenly as possible, so that it doesn't migrate or split. That means that you make a little pressure on each bolt, a little at a time until you achieve torque. It only has to be enough torque so that it doesn't leak. That is a job that you can guesstimate with your wrist.Skids (Sid Hansen)

Check those rubber half moons, notorious for shrinking and contributing to a leak!! See tech tips for repair hints! The cover is a non moving part, no real need for special torque sequence like a HEAD GASKET! But I like the middle towards the outside technique as well, but gently for a few runs thru to reduce warpage!
