Another delema about 3 bikes

Here's the deal, I found a 77 XS750 triple. Needs alot of cosmetic work. leaking fork seals, possibly an air cleaner box. and the usuall stuff from a bike sitting for quite some time. The guy fired it up for me and it sounded pretty sweet. It's got 10,000 on the odometer. He's asking $600.00 . I haven't called him back and when I looked at it I was enroute to a job and caught it out of the corner of my eye. Question is Should I try and make him a deal?
Next question, I found a 79 XS11sf in the paper. Comes with a spare/parts bike about 75 mile from where I'm located. It's listed as a 78 special. We all know the special didn't come out till 79. I havn't talked with the owner yet, only his daughter. and have no idea in it's condition. Just wondering if I should call him and work out a deal.? SWMBO's not to keen on any more bikes in the garage. AND, of course $ are very tight, especially with my Week Long Iron Butt Ride commin on. I think I can afford to go up to $1500.00 for all three. Do any of you think this is unrealisticlly low. If you want to see the add, ( if it's still there ) you can type in argus/leader ( for Sioux Falls ) It's located in the classified area. If any one is intrested. Go for it. It will just make my decision easier

Hate to add to your woes, but there is an 81 Special with 17Kmiles for $900.00 just posted today!!! No PICTURES for either of them !?

Question: what is your interest in the 750? For Swmbo to drive? If not, then why bother, just get the XS and parts bike!?!? Could save you some $$ for sure!?

I have an 81 Special, wish I was close by, would like to pick that one up, I need a spare!!!!

I kinda was thinking about SWMBO, but I kinda was leaning toward parting it out. I don't think it's available anymore. I havn't called back on the other two yet.

You said that the bikes are located about 75 miles from you. In what direction? I'm just curious if these are anywhere near me here in central Nebraska...I could take a look at them and maybe even post pics here for everyone's benefit.

They're in Elk Point, Just north of Sioux City. I'll call today and see if they're still for sale. I don't even know what they're asking for them. But it'll defenitly be worth a ride being as SWMBO's gone for the weekend.
