  • wanted: left side headlight control

all I really need is the plastic piece that holds the contacts for the headlight hi/lo, but I suppose if no one wants to dig that out, I could probably swing for the whole thing.

I was in mine cleaning the turn signal stuff, and I thought, what the heck, I'll spray a little contact cleaner on the headlight side of the unit. Bad idea...I don't really know what happened, but I suspect that the temperature difference cracked the clear plastic. Now the little thumb control that sticks up through the housing is broken off.

Any clever ideas of how to fix this, other than getting one from one of your parts bikes, or getting something like this ?

If I did figure out some goofy way to replace it, it would have to be a single-throw, tripple pull switch, I think.

BTW, I haven't checked how much a new one is, any ideas? I'll try to call the yamaha place tomorrow.

    Thanks for the help!

Before you spend that much for a new one, keep an eye on this search list on ebay: They are posted quite often.

        Wow man! Thats sooper dooper!

I was getting worried that I wouldn't be able to find anything.

Next thing is....I have to find someone to bid on it for me....good thing I have 4 days. Is there any point of bidding until closer to the end?

It seems that signing up for an e-bay account doesn't work in my house...literally.

Well, I can always ask my sister if nothing else.

Best if you get signed up for ebay if you plan to keep that old bike going. It's the most economical and sometimes the only way to find parts for them when they are this old.
