I am in the process of gathering parts for a clutch overhaul, I have new springs, fiber pads and a new cable but i can not find any steel liners, any ideas on where to find them, I have checked partsnmore and others but can not find a listing for them.

    thanks

Yeah, you can get them from Bikebandit.com and I *think* you can get them from your local Yammie dealer. I got brand new OEM ones from bikebandit not quite a year ago along with fibers.

Make sure not to make the same mistake as me when replacing the steel plates - don't take the very last one off that is being held on by a metal wire (I thought it was a paperclip that got in there or something)

Just bead blast the steel plates and put them in. Worked for me.

          Hey there DN,

Just inspect the steels, they should have a visible dimple type pattern on their surface, and check them for warpage, flatness. If you don't have a trusty Bead Blaster around, then some emory cloth will work as well, to remove the varnish only!!

And, if you've never done the clutch before, beware of when you put the star plate back on, there are little lips/edges on the ends of the plate towards the springs, the opposing pressure plate posts fit inside, but can get caught on the edge, and then during tightening, break off.

I take a long socket extension with the 10mm socket on it ONLY, no wrench, and start all of the bolts, then turn them by hand 1/2 turn each around the star. In the beginning, I push and rock the star plate several times and look closely at those lips to ensure that the mating posts that the bolts are screwing into are NOT getting caught on each other. Then after they all are fully seated to where I can't turn the extension by hand, then I get out my LOW RANGE 0-75 ft/lbs or an inch/lbs wrench and torque them to only 7lbs!!!! Most clicker or standard wrenches start at 10!!!! Good luck.

            clutch rebuild

thanks, i am going to pull them in the morning and see what i have, I am fairly certain that the plates are useable, but since i am in there anyways.... I have a bead blaster at home so that will not be a problem, I also have a 0 to 10 lb torque wrench (neat little job but man was it $$$$) My real concern is that the basket is not all eaten up, I hope i can make it go with a little file work and put it all back together. thanks
