  • Occasional loss of power

This has been going on even before I did any work on MIYAMI. I was hopeing the problem would go away but it didn't. Kinda like a bad cold.
Of course I've got the loss of power when wet but that's a given with this bike. Don't know if I fixed that problem yet cauz I havn't got it wet after working on her. The problem is sometime after I decelerate, when I go to accelerate I will only hit on two cylinders
, The problem goes away if I pull the clutch lever in, rev er up a bit then slip the clutch under load. It doesn't happen all the time,
Now when she gets wet the same thing happens only It happens ALL the time till she dried off, when wet , when you slip the clutch back out under load she's fine till ya let off then when accelerating, back to two. Anyway, I'm gonna tinker with it today Hopefully someone knows what I'm talking about. *ell, she worse then swmbo with the attitude.

    Hey there Czekus21,

I thought I read another thread posted by you about this and some replies, but may have been someone else!? Sounds like you need to check your pickup coil wires, inside the ignition cover on the left side of the engine. When you let off of the throttle, the vacuum level changes and the advance mechanism moves, which bends those wires, and with an almost broken, or broken but still lightly contacting ends of wires inside the insulation, you can get intermittent firing as that wire flexes with the advance movement.

Read the tech tips on this fix and you'll probably find your culprit. The wet problem could be many points, plug wires, caps, coil wires chaffed and partly grounding thru water contact!? Good Luck!

Thanks for the reply. I went to check out the tech tips and it looks like the hacker did his thing there. I never thought of cheking the wire on the pick up, I check that out today. I know the plugs, caps, cap boots, coil wires, and the harness that runs over the top of the frame is water proof, as well as the wires in the fuse panel area. ( ie..shrink boot, dilectric gease, elect. tape ) I'll be back this evening and post a reply thread to my She's alive thread
      in the members only lounge.

The pick-up coil wires run out of the housing and around the bottom of the trans cover, then up the back of the middle drive housing. Mine used to miss a lot when wet. Then the pick-up wires (after several repairs over the years) went bad again, so I replaced the whole set with the pulser coil wires from Bike Bandit, and no more probs. You might want to double check the plug behind the fuse box for corrosion. Mine was REALLY bad. And the outer wiring cover had several breaks in it going up around the middle drive, and water was getting in there. The whole harness comes with the pulser replacement, and costs $110.00 delivered
