I have the K&N Jet Kit but not the filters. K&N sells them for about $140 as far as i know. JC Whitneys has a set of foam individual filters for like $44.00. Wanted to know if anyone had much success with the Stage 3 package. Also know anything about the filters from JC's.
The filters from JC are basic Unifilter brand can style. The mounting lip is fine, no obstruction of air jets. The chrome end on one of mine fell/got knocked off, took a tin can lid and RTV glued it on since the part that fell off was no where to be found! You prime them with spray filter oil like the K&N's. Not the prettiest things, but they do work!

I don't know about you ,but i'm not scared of a little trial and error. I removed my stock air box some time ago. That was mistake, after removeal bike would fall flat on its face around 7,000 rpm. Used to pull like mad till 9.5 or above. So i started jetting changes.I got up to a 155 main. That was way to much real hard to go 50 mph stuter caugh etc.So iwent down to a 137.5 runs pretty good now, somewhere in the mix a mech. told me to raise the needle, mine was not adjustable so the guy gives me these tiny lock washers. Took a pliers made them flat put under needles to raise them, picked up noticably in the midrange.Needless to say i went from 13.6 or .8 in the quarter mile to 13.10's all day long.Brought the top speed from 99mph to 102 mph (at the drag strip) So at least i'm going in the right direction. Moral of the story, don't to afraid to XSperiment a little. Not all bikes are created equil, what works at your house might not work at mine, there are many variables in between, milage state of tune air ,fuel ,you get the point. If you got a drag strip near it helps then you at least can get a fairly accurate measure of how it helped or didn't.Sorry for the lengthy post but to your origanl question ,i'm not sure about the stage three specific kit,all i can say is go for it and keep us up to speed.

Hi Hawkeye, welcome to the forum. I talked to Bob Jones about jetting. Some don't think he knows as much as he lets on, but I figure that he builds xs11's for a living, so maybe he would know about jetting. I got a stage 1&3 jet kit and I wanted to know how far I should go. He said that the stage 1 jets would be good (124's). Any more than that and it would be too rich. But I agree, you really have to play around a bit. Everyone seems to have a little different set up, so it depends on what you have.
I haven't done any track testing, but I have good response all the way up the tach. Better than before. Now that I have a big bore kit, I might be able to go bigger on the jets, but I'll save that for winter.
