  • Clutch pack ?

How many frictions and how many steels are there supposed to be in a pack?

I just took one apart I thought had an extra steel in it but looking at another I had on the shelf it looks as though it was actually missing a friction.

It looks like there should be 8 steels and 8 frictions to be correct.

I unfortunately 'broke in' a new clutch during our hour long brutal Stop & Go uphill approach to the Toll Booth at Pikes Pike.
You were there too That was something else. 90+ degrees and no wind. Motors and clutches weren't happy with that abuse.
Great views though at 14,115 feet and the ride down with the Brake Rotor Temp police checking the car rotor temps on the way down.

    The Clutch Sandwich

CLUTCH PART #6 Need eight Friction Plates
    . Plate, Friction 341-16321-13-00 $10.92

CLUTCH PART #7 Need seven Steels
    . Steel Plate, Clutch 2 2H7-16325-00-00 $9.16

CLUTCH PART #11 Need ONE of these Steels on the Boss
    . . Plate, Clutch 1 2H7-16324-00-00 $9.51

Not having the 16324-00 part in hand I don't know the actual difference between the 16325 Steels (seven needed) and the 16324 Steel that is first on (engine side) of Boss. Curious to know what exactly is different between those two steels.

So according to the Parts List the Clutch is: 8 Frictions, 7 Steels (16324-00) and 1 Steel (16325-00).

So going on the Boss it would be:
      (one) #11 Steel , then alternate #6 Friction, #7 Steel, 6, 7, 6 , 7 , 6, 7, 6, 7, 6, 7, 6, 7, 6 and then Pressure Plate

Again, I'm not sure what is different with the 2H7-16324-00-00 Steel vs the other seven 2H7-16325-00-00 Steels.
Or the impact of using 8 of the 2H7-16325-00-00 Steels instead of 7 & 1 (324).

Thanks Jeff. So 8 is correct. I never took it all the way apart but I could see that the bottom steel was a slightly darker color so I will assume it is the correct one. I just added a friction from a spare pack I had on the shelf. Should be fine.
