  • 79 Side Cover Mounts Photo

    XS11 Folks,
Anyone got a quick photo of the side cover mounts on the frame that are in nice shape?
Getting the frame of my 79 special ready for the powder coater. The mounts are a little bent up but I can't figure out exactly what the OEM shape was.
Once coated, bending them to correct shape will destroy the coating.

    Thanks,

This is from an 80 special; not the best, but if you want a particular angle just let me know and I can take one.

'80 mounts are different. '79 is a one year beast. Mounts should be 90 to the frame, and pins 90 from there. IE, on the center stand, pins should be pointing up.
Sorry, but I don't have any photo's to post. I've spent a LOT of time on Special Ed's '79, so I know I'm correct.

There is a few of mine, a little late I see, but I already did the work, so here..,in good shape? Maybe.
Here’s one of the 850 for fun, just got out for the first ride of spring and got the dust off yesterday. That is the most dependable bike I’ve ever owned! Turn the key and go, year after year.
