    Valve shims

I bought some valve shims. Some of them have a "Y" before the number and some don't. Does the "Y" stand for Yamaha and the others don't? Any ideas?

Yes, most of the Yamaha shims I've seen have the "Y". If you get the Kawasaki or Suzuki shims they don't have any markings but the size. Just be careful of the Chinese shims, I've had two of them split in half on me. They do look a little different, probably the metal and hardening they use.
