  • Just loosing it.

    1979 sx11 special,

Have been trying to find GOOD picture - not some 70's drawing - ( I have 2 manuals ) of the way the 2 rubber piston sleeves are put on the REAR M/Cyl plunger . I find the end one next to the spring is cupped towards the spring > which way is the "center" one facing????? same way?????????????????????????

    Thanks

search member TucmanXJ then scroll down to 1-12-08 post called Master cylinder rebuild he has a pic to orient what your asking. its a front master but should be the same. also if you soak the rubber seal in brake fluid about 10 mins it will be like a rubber band on install.
    1979 F worst one i could find
to convert into a bobber/ streetfighter!

The center rear has the smallest diameter part of the seal facing the front of the piston. That is the front of the piston goes into the bore first. I have a scanned pdf of the brake system that allows you to enlarge. I did a high res scan, so you can see everything easily. If you want a copy, send me an email; ray(at)rjmatteis(dot)com with xs11 brake in the subject line.
