Yes, I can understand this! there are some people that should not touch a carb system. This is NOT something against them, but is just a fact. I can't do anything but English, and even thn I bugger it up! We are all good at something, and need to learn to not try and venture too far from that.

Some that have had the most trouble with something like these carbs learn so much in the process it becomes easy peasy.

if your going to ride one, you need to learn this stuff. BUT! Before you do anything make sure you open your clymers manual and read about what you want to do, then go on this site and research the same topic. This site has tons of tips and pictures to assist us. If your unsure, post your questions here and members will answer them. Only once you understand what needs to be done , why and how, should you start doing things to these bikes. They are bullet proof and will run under the most austere conditions, but they are not self healing. Tuned correctly and maintained properly they are very strong and reliable.

            We

all learned this way. One other thing for you I would suggest is to buy a copy of the "Haynes" xs11 manual. Clymers has better pictures; but, the Haynes explains the function of each system very clearly and the intervals and reasons things need to be done. I read them in conjunction with each other. Also in the Xs11 heaven book I gave you Bob Jones talks about the various weaknesses of the bike. Think it's chapter 4, but it's been awhile. I corrected most of them but it's a good read regardless.

Thinking about manuals the Yamaha XS1100 manual is best, beg barrow or steal one of these. Haynes and Clymers help in many cases as Mack mentioned. Perfect would be all three, REALLY, when you are working on something unfamiliar open them all to the same thing read them all and keep them near for referencing. Best thing would be having everyone here relaxing in high back office/computer swivel chairs watching you work, NOT, STRIKE THAT.

Get the manuals, here's one to get you started eBay # 113238726954 };-)
