78E never had the clutch apart

since it sat over the winter, ive been having this problem

sits for a day or 2, clutch sticks, run it on center stand put rear brake while in gear and tire spinning, the clutch will break loose

but go a mile or 2 pull in clutch stuck again

    blip throttle and will release
    any suggestions

If you can start it while in gear with the clutch pulled, I would recommend that rather than "banging" into first. You don't want to wear the slots and dons of the gears. Once you are ready to ride, feather the clutch in and out to wear off the "sticksion" of the clutch plates. You need to ride that bike.

Time to take the clutch apart! Replace the frictions, de-glaze the steel plates and put in Barnett springs. I use a FLAT surface with crocus cloth to de-glaze the steel plates. You should clean everything before hand with a GOOD carb cleaner to remove the burned on oil. Berryman's B12 or Seafoam both work well.

If you remove the friction plates be sure and soak the plates to be installed in motor oil over night.

If it were me, I'd ensure your oil is full, then find an empty road and ride the hell out of the clutch. It'll free it up in about ten minutes.
