Also you would need to check with someone that is running that exact same tire and can positively say IT WILL FIT, NO PROBLEM !
I know from the different tires I've had on XS650s the Continental ContiClassic K112 Twin Classic/Vintage Motorcycle Tire Rear - 130/90-16 is visibly bigger than other tires I've had on XS650 Specials. This tire is one of the vintage looking tires and really is not rated as a high performance tire.76 XS650 C ROADSTER

Some may fit. You NEED to look at the tire specs, actual width, overall diameter, etc. as a start. DO NOT use any tire with raised letters, they WILL hit the drive shaft side of the swingarm. If I remember correctly, I had a Dunlop III, 140 on my MNS, but I could NOT put more than 38psi in the rear tire without it rubbing on the swingarm. It still handled with the lower pressure, just had to watch the speed when loaded.Ray Matteis

My 81 Midnight (XS1100LH) has a Bridgestone Excedra G544 140/90-16 71H on it.
I didn't put it on, it was on there when I got the bike.
Hope that helps.Bob's Bikes:

Hey Loch,
I had the Dunlop Elite II 140/90/16with RWL and it did RUB.
I put on the Dunlop Elite III 140/90/16 and it also rubbed slightly.
There is also a little mod you can do to get a few more mm's clearance on the Left/Driveshaft side of the swingarm. Take the drive HUB off of the RIM, and put some(6) 2mm thick washers between the hub and the rim and remount the hub, this will push/position the rim a few more mm's to the RIGHT away from the driveshaft side, there seems to be more room on the brake side anyways.
Later I did a more drastic Mod to the actual swingarm, cut out the indent and then rewelded it back, but the act of cutting it out removed a couple of mm's of thickness so when I put it back on the indent sat more recessed into the swingarm, but I also know that it's NOW very close to rubbing the actual driveshaft on the inside! YMMV

Shinko 777
Bought a pair of Shinko 777 for the 1980 XS650 SII 100/90-19 and 130/90-16 and just finished mounting the rear. I must say what Shinko says seems to be true, "these tires are reinforced". Usually I can put a tire on in in 15 minutes or less if I do a couple beers while I work (beer lubricates), but in this case I had to take a break after the first bead went on, then struggled to get the tube in because the tire was so stiff, finally got the second bead on and I was tired. Fortunately the new tube did not get ruined in my struggles. I've not put it on the bike yet as I pulled the spokes and polished wheel, hub, spokes and nipples, can't decide what I want to do with the exposed brake plate, polish, paint or leave it as is, decent factory finish on it, Sooo ?76 XS650 C ROADSTER
