I just bought a 1980 Yamaha midnight special. The carbs are really bad had to drill out the pilot screw and broke the aluminium how do I repair this

did you just break the top part, or is it broken into the threads? if it's the top part, don't worry about it. If the threads are damaged, it's almost easier to find another carb body to replace it.
on the 1980 I used to have I used a dremmel to cut the top part off. It was only for smog rules, as they didn't want people adjusting their own carbs.

I once broke off a mixture screw and then the drill bit, and then the extractor bit and then eventually as a last resort, had to cut off part of the aluminum carb body to extract the screw (as pictured). The threads remained undamaged though, and the carb worked fine after that, just as DiverRay stated.
