  • CCT Question

I just adjusted the CCT because the engine seemed too noisy, it’s been about a year of riding since I adjusted it, but it had been sitting for about 20yrs before that. I noticed quite a difference in the sound of the engine, much smoother. Glad it’s sounding good now, but made me wonder what kind of wear or damage it can cause when it’s making noise like that.

As long as the chain didn't hop time, it shouldn't cause any damage AFAIK. Maybe a little scarring on the inside of the cam chain guides in the engine if it's REALLY loose, but it'd be hard to be that loose and not fall off.

Cool, it wasn’t too bad, just noticeable enough to think about the CCT. I’ll do the ACCT one of these days

        Hi Mschor,
If it gets too quiet the valves need adjusting as they tighten up with wear.

Right, I learned that from the other Phil, he helped me adjust the valves last year, it’s still got enough tick in it to last a while I think
