Hi Fellas. Long time no speak. Still love this place.
So I'm putting my front calipers back on my '80 special, dutifully following Clymers, and I'm not sure whether the large, thick washer mounts against the fork or the O-ring. Figure 15 on page 230 of Clymers clearly indicates that the O-ring mounts against the fork and that the thick washer goes against the caliper and the spacer. But that just doesn't seem right. There is a recess in the caliper that seems to fit the O-ring just perfectly. And why would a little O-ring get smushed between the fat washer and the fork?
